Reading focusing on use of 3 tenses

Resources for a Year 9 low/middle ability group roughly following Expo 3, Module 3 (en bonne sante).\n\nCovers:\n-body parts/illness/symptoms\n-food and drink - opinions, food groups, nutrients\n-exercise, frequency\n-il faut + infinitives\n-near future\n-imperfect tense as vocab (key verbs - je mangeais/buvais/jouais/faisais)

Leisure activities Household chores (used at start of a lesson on inviting people out and giving excuses, hence the chores)

Lesson in response to the shootings in Paris on 07/01/15. 1st slide for triggering discussion.Explain/discuss context for any pupils who are unaware.Provide sources 1-11 to pupils to analyse and discuss. Depending on your group, they might just do a couple each, or might get through all of them. If time at end - discuss and write tweets.

To revise for a reading assessment towards the end of Expo 2 Module 3 (Les sorties), testing knowledge from Modules 1, 2 and 3. Includes free time activities, perfect tense, modal verbs. Print p.1 on plain paper and give a sheet to each group to highlight key words, etc. Print p.2 on different colours of card and cut into strips (each question on a different strip). Give each group Q1 - when they have written their answer on the strip of card, they bring it to you and you give them Q2. It's a race to finish first (or get the most questions answered within the time limit). My pupils loved this and asked if we could do it again soon.

Reading tasks with grid to complete - the one in 2 tenses was aimed at a bottom set Y9 class and the one in 3 tenses was aimed at a middle/high set. But I'm planning to use the 2 tense one with Year 8s too. More or less the same task, so could be given out in the same class for differentiation.

UPDATE: Added version for a more able group, including reading task. \n\nGoes with Expo 2 Vert, Module 3, Unit 1 'Tu veux sortir?' Covers 3 lessons with a low ability Y8 group. \n\n1st lesson - activities/infinitives. Slide 4 is a sheet to print off. Forming Qs with 'tu veux', speaking activity.\n\n2nd lesson - reading task. Understanding more detailed messages with meeting place, time, etc.\n\n3rd lesson - writing own invitation. Extension work on French text speak.

Reference material for high ability KS4 groups. I am giving this to my groups quite early on and teaching them to use the verb tables in the middle of the dictionary. So whilst at the moment they haven't covered the imperfect or conditional in much detail (and haven't done the A* tenses at all) some should be able to use their initiative and go beyond what they have been taught, with this guide to help them.

Includes photo card task, understanding a synopsis, P/N/P+N question based on authentic reviews (from allocine), and students writing their own review.

Lesson introducing low ability Y8 to describing a photo (for AQA GCSE Foundation Writing style task). Context = Zipi y Zape y el Club de la Cánica - prior to watching the film. Added lesson on understanding character descriptions (to accompany watching the film).

Lesson to introduce the preterite tense to Y8 set 3. Bell work - translate present tense extended sentences (revision from previous lesson) Brief explanation of -ar verbs in yo, él/ella and nosotros form, followed by mini-whiteboard practice. Brief explanation of how -er and -ir verbs. Pupils rate their understanding Bronze/Silver/Gold then choose a differentiated worksheet (just print the ppt slides) which leads into a writing task. Give or keep the points game to finish.

Match up worksheet on food items\n\nCard sort of shops - match picture of item with Spanish item name and shop name. \n\nGrid to record information in afterwards with simple true or false and writing extension.

6 week module on going out, invitations and excuses, shops, clothes etc., based on Expo 2 Module 3.Lessons aimed at Year 8 Set 3 out of 4.A few gaps due to cover and exams.

Year 7 reading activity with three short texts including opinions and reasons. Could be suitable for cover work. Part 1 - match pictures to the texts. Part 2 - true or false.
